CBMF assists AFBS AGM

The Foundation had a surprise presence at the Annual General Meeting for
the ACTRA Fraternal Benefit Society on June 2. With the technical assistance
of the Vault Studios, over 300 images were assembled into a video slideshow,
accompanied by an unobtrusive audio track, which ran as a background
throughout the meeting.
The video slideshow was well received by attendees, providing a trip down memory lane, with images of personalities in Canadian broadcasting, as well as items from the Foundation's collection.

The CBC Special Effects Logo

Acquired from the CBC in 2007, the memorable sign from the Special Effects
Department of the CBC, which transforms the familiar 1992
“exploding pizza” logo into a lit bomb, is an excellent introduction
into the history of the Department, and its role within the CBC. An interview
with Douglas Wardle, a 27 year veteran of the department, provides an insight
into the early years of the Special Effects Department at the CBC, and anecdotes
of some of their achievements.
